When I was growing up we used the term 'Mickey Mouse' to mean anything that was shoddy or poorly made.There is nothing 'Mickey Mouse' about this stopper. It's beautifully machined and has a heavy plating and high quality rubber searing system. It also has some heft that speaks highly of the design and manufacture.I love the functionality as much as the construction. Mickey is done up as some post-modern industrial/impressionist figure that consists of two balls connected by stems to a larger ball representing his ears and head. The ears allow you to easily and firmly grip the stopper and turn it down into a bottle using the helical design of the sealing system to provide an air-tight seal.For some reason I've managed to accumulate a small collection of wine stoppers and this one - unlike most of the others - is built to last. More importantly, the construction that I cited above guarantees that it is not going to break like some of my beautiful-but-fragile ones made from Murano glass. Thus, it gets a lot of daily use.If you care about such things the inscription shown in the product photo that is on this page [at the time of this review] shows a copyright symbol and Disney, indicating that this is not a knock-off, and Made in China.If you collect stoppers this is one that you can both display and use without worrying about breaking it. Like most other ones you cannot put it in a dishwasher, which would ruin the sealing system.
