These stoppers are made out of plastic. The plastic is painted silver to look like aluminum, but they are plastic. I took one apart to clean it. After cleaning I attempted to put it back together. It did not go back together easily, and two very fragile plastic parts broke while I was attempting to put it back together. As for my second stopper: the black end broke off after just a few bottle insertions and removals. These stoppers do work as advertised, but not for long!

I ordered these stoppers to add to the other 2 I had received when I ordered the Preservino Wine Preservation - Professional - PPV-13 through Amazon. I was very pleased with the performance and quality of the Professional PPV-13, but I am very disappointed with these 2 added stoppers by Pek. They are obviously a different quality and perform poorly versus those in the Professional PPV-13 package. If I could I would return these for credit,and I certainly won't order these Pek variety again.

The other review is reviewing the "professional" version. While that is available on Amazon at a very good price that is NOT the one being sold here. This is the standard version that the other reviewer says has a cheaper feel, and it definitely does NOT allow pouring through the cap. If you wan the better version search under "PEK Professional" and you should find it.
