When my husband and I drink wine for dinner we almost never drink a whole bottle between us. Thus the need for a good-sealing bottle stopper. We have a few of those little plastic and rubber stoppers with the hinged lever on top. They're ok but don't always work very well and don't fit certain kinds of bottles. There's always the cork, but they can be hard to re-insert; and if you're concerned about aesthetics, you may not think they look pleasing. Also, corks can break, which is annoying and messy.This stopper certainly is stylish and it works well on most bottles. (It does not work on screw-top bottles, which even good wine makers are increasingly using; but a screw-top bottle has a reusable cap anyway, so no loss.)What I found confusing at first was how, exactly, to get it to seal. Turns out it's very simple but there are no instructions. I had to look it up online. You just pull it down onto the bottle -- and use the center button only to release the stopper.It does seal quite well but at first I wondered. That's because the stopper turns while on the bottle. But I discovered that turning it doesn't break the seal. On the whole, I like it: it looks nice and it does the job.
