While the idea of a champagne stopper is great, this particular model of stopper uses rubber compound that will degrade over time. While the specific usage was never accurately recorded, I have probably used it 50 times over the past five year. The gasket that surrounds the lip of bottle has fallen apart. It still actually holds pressure but the idea rubber fragments falling into a $40 bottle of champagne is not appealing. Even so, any frequent champagne drinker should own such a device. I can't tell you how long we have used this stopper--years and years for sure. There may be others on the market that are equally as good, but since this one has worked so well for us, it is the one we are ordering for a Christmas present for our daughter this year. Only one complaint: Ghidini almost lost a sale, because Ghidini is in such tiny print on the inside of the stopper, I could barely read it with a magnifying glass!
