This multi-use #4 rubber stopper is made from solid black rubber. The diameter across the top is approximately 25mm. Generally the taper reduces diameter from 4-8mm at the bottom of the stopper depending on the stopper size with the smaller stoppers tapering the least. Sold in packs of 5. These are new and unused.

These #4 Rubber Stoppers are the perfect size to fit the lifter bores in a small-block (289-302-351W) Ford motor block when it's being stored.I needed to store a short-block, and I wanted to keep moisture, dust, small objects, etc. out of the inside of the block. After measuring, I ordered two different sizes, and this turned out to be correct size. I tried using masking tape previously, but the masking tape leaves residue and does not stick to the lubricant which keeps rust off of the machined surfaces of the block. The stoppers can be taken out without a mess when lifters and a camshaft are installed for assembly, and re-used on another block.If you need to plug any size hole, rubber stoppers are the way to go (although I'd advise against using them alongside certain organic chemicals that may destroy the rubber, e.g. acetone, when used for purposes such as chemical experiments.)
