Don't know what the problem is for some reviewers, but maybe you're trying too hard! Just lower the stopper - don't force it into the drain opening. I put 3 inches of water in the sink 5 hrs ago, and it's still there. I got 2 - one for the sink w/ disposal to use as a strainer, the other for the wash sink as a strainer/stopper. Looks great, works well.Update: I left the water in the sink over night, and in the morning it had drained completely. So, 5 hrs, no problem....12 hrs, empty sink. I think I can live with that, but thought I should share the info.

I received my sink stoppers a couple of days ago and was actually surprised that they were not only a perfect fit, but work perfectly. I have a double sink and bought one for each. What I like best beyond fit and functionality is the color and texture of the product. It washes off quite easily and the color jazzes up the sick. No problems with stopping up to hold water. I've used wire mesh in the past but they always rust and can't be used to stop up the sink.

I ordered this product to replace one of the simple metal sink strainer/stoppers. It looks really nice and seems to be well made and a quality product. As a strainer, it works wonderfully. However, as a stopper, it does not work at all. If you plan to fill your sink with more than an inch of water and actually have a stopper STOP the water from draining, this isn't gonna do it. Even without dishes or anything in the sink, as soon as the sink filled up with more than an inch of water, the silicone stopper portion would pop itself up and drain the sink. I don't want to waste the time, water, or money with a sink that won't stay full when doing the dishes, so I returned the product. Looks nice, but if you want the stopper portion to work I wouldn't recommend this.
